中国外固定技术先导者，国际知名外固定与肢 体重建专家。北京骨外固定技术研究所创始所长。 曾任中华医学会骨科学分会骨外固定学组副组长。 20世纪80年以来，专注骨外固定临床应用与研究， 将组合式外固定器与Ilizarov技术有机融合，为中国 外固定技术的发展创建了平台，促进了外固定技术 的临床应用、研究和推广；攻克了一些疑难骨病的治 疗难题，提出了具有实际指导意义的“再生控制论”, 促进了Ilizarov技术发展。在骨外固定技术中融入 了仿生学概念，使骨外固定技术迈向仿生学时代。
主编《实用骨外固定学》第一版，夏和桃、秦泗河、张云峰主编《实用骨外固定学》第二版并参与了多部骨科专著 的编写。发表学术论文60多篇，论文在世界权威性 学术会议——SICOT世界骨科大会)获奖。
